Warhawks Move on to Championship Series Tuesday, May 6th , 1952 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Buffalo Junior College Warhawks have edged the Ghent Community College Mud Cats. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested League Championship Series, with a 4-3 win in the clincher being the difference for Buffalo Junior College and giving them the ticket to the Championship Series with a 4-3 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Sandy Duchesne, who was named series MVP. For the series, Duchesne hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 1 runs. The Buffalo Junior College Warhawks will play against the Fresno Community College Big Stick in the next round. Fresno Community College won their series against the Rome Community College All-Stars 4 games to 2. The Championship Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes. |
