Sicily Defeated By Bears, 4-1
Mussolini Municipal Park was the site of the home opener for the Sicily Mafia. The contest featured a prime matchup between Lakew Odoyo of the visiting Berlin Bears and Pippo Ammanati of the Mafia. The final score was 4-1, the Bears getting the win. Lakew Odoyo turned in the best performance. Zeleny Masata recorded the save, his 1st.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Willie Gonzalez? The Berlin first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Bears on top, 1-0. For the game, Gonzalez had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I like our moxie," said Bears manager Dan Danielson.
