Sicily Beats Los Angeles in Extra Innings
The Los Angeles Stars could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Chris Walker into a win. Instead, the Sicily Mafia prevailed, 4-2, in 11 innings. Walker threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Arnaldo Mori, now 2-2, was credited with the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Sicily goes to 26-27, Los Angeles to 25-28.

Sicily used the timely hitting of Zaccaria Cartellieri to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mafia on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Said losing manager Dan Danielson: "Give the Mafia credit. They played a better game than we did."
