Phantoms Pitching Ravaged by Cannon
|
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget.
Joe Cannon of the Keiper A Cougars had one such moment at Phantoms Park, when he went 5 for 11 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Keiper A succumbed to defeat, 12-11, to the Sedna A Phantoms.
"This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 22-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game."
Joe Cannon singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 9th, struck out in the 11th, singled in the 14th, flied out in the 15th, flied out in the 18th, singled in the 20th and grounded out in the 21st.
So far in 1999 Cannon is batting .417 with 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has 15 hits in 36 at-bats and a .475 OBP.
