The Sicily Mafia weathered a fine game by Lisbon designated hitter Kaaleppi Mäkinen to upend the Seafarers, 6-5, at Jackrabbits Park. Mäkinen was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. The winner was Sicily reliever Ennio Maffei, now 2-0. The loser was Luis Matos. The win gives Sicily a record of 3-2.

Luigino Spiteri came through with a big-time hit for Sicily. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Sicily manager Dan Danielson.
