Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Newfoundland Labradors and Sicily Mafia.
Newfoundland Labradors starter Dan Hulbert turned in a top-notch performance against the Sicily Mafia at Mussolini Municipal Park. The result was a win for the Labradors, 4-2. The victory makes Newfoundland 6-3.
Damon Carides, who is a two-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Carides contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Newfoundland up, 1-0.
After the game, Newfoundland manager Dan Danielson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
