Anglers Best Lions in Pitching Duel
The Paris Lions were defeated, 2-1, by the Providence Anglers at Paris Municipal Park, even though Josh Harmon pitched well for Paris. Oscar Martel, who finished 5th in the TOBA in innings pitched with 165.1 in 1953, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. The Lions drop to 7-8 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1955 season.

Providence used a clutch at-bat from Wei-hong Shao to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Anglers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Shao.
