Seafarers Get Clonked by Monsters, 5-1
Omar Cespedes, who finished 2nd in the TOBA in innings pitched with 179.1 last year, never let the Seafarers get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Monsters to a win, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Cespedes, now 3-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Hiromi Yoneda earned the save for Mobile, his 4th.

The Monsters got a big at-bat from left fielder Byron Ward. For the game, Ward was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Mobile a 2-0 lead.

"Omar -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Monsters manager Dan Danielson. "He was the key to us winning."

Mobile has now won 3 straight, while the Seafarers have lost 3 in a row.
