Lions Beaten By Skyliners, 5-2
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Joe Brewer, the New York Skyliners defeated the Paris Lions, 5-2. Brewer was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Skyliners. David Alvarado picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-2. He struck out 2 in 7 innings. Mike Butler earned the save, his 3rd, for the Skyliners.
Mike O'Shea had a big 2-run triple for the Skyliners in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Harmon and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Skyliners ahead, 3-0.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Brewer, "one at-bat at a time."
The win for the Skyliners raised their record to 16-9.
