Nelms Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Hitmen Monday, May 9th , 1955 Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Steelmen-Hitmen game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball. Aurich center fielder Nate Nelms thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Aurich to a win, 12-0, over Norderney. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Nelms said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run." Nelms was 4-for-4 on the day with 10 runs batted in. Nate Nelms hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jon Bustos in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jon Bustos in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Frans van der Vaart in the 6th and was hit by a pitch in the 7th. This season, Nelms is hitting at a .423 pace with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and has scored 6 times. |
