NSBL Announces Best Player Award Thursday, June 25th , 1953
When it came to hitting the baseball, Otte van Baardewijk had few peers in the North Sea Baseball League this year. The gifted first baseman for Emden tagged opposing pitchers for a .364 average and was voted the Most Valuable Player Award for 1953. Included in his season stats were 56 hits, 8 doubles, 2 triples, 10 home runs, 36 runs scored and 36 RBIs.
1953 NSBL Best Pitcher Named Thursday, June 25th , 1953 Josh Tozer was really special this season. You could feel the electricity in the air every time he took the mound for the Leeuwarden Bombers. Today he was honored by his selection as the 1953 North Sea Baseball League Best Pitcher recipient.
He started 9 games, logging 46.1 innings, 5 wins, 1 loss, 20 strikeouts and a 3.50 ERA. Tozer gave up 45 hits, while walking 20 and holding opponents to a .262 average.
