Cordero Gets Record-Setting K Friday, June 10th , 1955 This wasn't your run-of-the-mill baseball game today at Team Stadium. Raul Cordero was closing in on the league strikeout record held by Ryan Steiner. As the Norden Wolves star got closer and closer to the magic number, the crowd got louder and louder. When Cordero finally rung up batter number 26, they went wild with cheers and applause. It was a historic moment for everyone. A once-in-a-lifetime experience. Asked by reporters if this was his best moment in baseball, Cordero replied, "This is a real good day. It's special to be mentioned in the same sentence with Ryan Steiner and to get your name in the league record book, but winning a championship ring is the most treasured moment in baseball." His record this season is 3-1 in 7 starts and Cordero has a 3.72 ERA. |
