Horio Goes 5-for-5 Against Texel
Saturday, May 10th , 1952
Bombers catcher Nariaki Horio had his way with Texel pitching at Team Park and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Giants ruined his great day by toppling the Bombers, 8-7.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Texel credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Horio did today," Giants skipper said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Nariaki Horio singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jemke Vinke in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This year, Horio has 1 home run and a .409 batting average.
