Rivere Parks 3 for Den Helder Saturday, June 12th , 1954 Oliver Rivere brutalized the Leeuwarden Bombers pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 10-9 Den Helder victory at Team Field. The Den Helder Farmers left fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-4 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Too much Oliver Rivere today," Bombers manager said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Oliver Rivere grounded out in the 1st, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Alvin Snow in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Scott Pearson in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off Santos Rodriguez in the 10th. Batting .305 to date, Rivere has 7 home runs and 21 RBIs. |
