Mikkola Shuts Out New York, 9-0 Sunday, August 2nd , 1953 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the New York Skyliners as starter Iiro Mikkola shut them out, 9-0, at Paris Municipal Park. The Paris pitcher struck out 5 and walked 3 while allowing 5 hits. "Mikkola was good but he wasn't flawless," New York manager Dan Danielson said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Paris, but this is on us."
