Mobile B-New York B Brawl, Barton and Dobson Suspended Friday, June 13th , 1958 Yesterday at Houston AA Stadium Bobby Barton and Craig Dobson got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Mobile B Red Wings and New York B Pride. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Barton will have to sit out 4 while Dobson would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In this current campaign Barton is hitting at a .330 clip with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs. Checking out his stats for the season, Dobson has registered 4 wins and 1 loss in 7 starts, posted a 3.15 ERA, and struck out 31 batters in 54.1 innings. |
