7's Walburn Takes 1999 Most Valuable Player Award

He may have less experience than most of his SBL Double A peers, but that didn't slow Ray Walburn down at all in 1999.
At the age of 21, the 7 catcher has been named the winner of the Sub League 2 Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .294 batting average and a .375 on-base percentage this year. In 74 games he piled up 73 hits, 10 doubles, no triples, 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 20. Jone Leaupepe of the 8 Wolf Pack finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Hiromasa Honda of the 3 Sidewinders finished third.
