One Run Enough for Lisbon Thursday, July 3rd , 1958 Zach O'Flaherty was in a mood to talk following the Lisbon Maples contest against the Newfoundland B Beagles, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Beagles, 1-0. "There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," O'Flaherty said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again." The right-hander blanked Newfoundland B on a 5-hitter, allowing no walks and racking up 10 strikeouts. So far this year, O'Flaherty has a 7-4 record with a 4.03 ERA. |
