O'Flaherty Befuddles Sicily B in 2-0 Lisbon Win
Wednesday, May 7th , 1952
The Sicily B Wallabys were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Lisbon Maples and hurler Zach O'Flaherty. O'Flaherty kept the Wallabys confused all game, spinning a 6-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to O'Flaherty," Sicily B manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 29-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," O'Flaherty said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
