Green Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Monday, July 14th , 1958 Even as a kid, Cahill Green said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At New York A Stadium, Green showed how well he learned that lesson. The 25-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Newfoundland C Collies, helping his team knock off the New York C Inferno by a score of 6-3. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Cahill Green singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year, Green is hitting .318 with no home runs and 4 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .348 clip and scored 5 runs. |
