Mobile C Shuts Out Lisbon C, 2-0 Wednesday, June 3rd , 1953 Fremont Ruff kept the Lisbon C Whitehawks hitters from doing much damage at Spartans Grove. Lisbon C could only muster 7 hits and draw no walks against the left-handed Ruff, who controlled them throughout the game. Mobile C won the contest, 2-0. Ruff added 5 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Ruff told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." This season, Ruff has gone 1-5 with an ERA of 3.33, posting 36 strikeouts in 54 innings. |
