Ishikawa Goes 5-for-5 Against Providence C
Thursday, June 16th , 1955
Akihiro Ishikawa got the glory and the headlines, but the Providence C Jackrabbits left with the win. The Mobile C center fielder easily handled the Jackrabbits pitching, going 5-for-5, but his Mobile C Spartans came out on the short end of the 8-7 score.
Ishikawa told BNN reporters in the postgame interview he would happily trade "three or four" of his hits for a win.
"Heck, maybe even all of them," he said with a laugh. "Right now, it just seems like one loss in a long season but who knows what it could mean at the end."
Akihiro Ishikawa singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Milojica Omeragic in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
This year, Ishikawa is batting .333 with 34 hits, 1 home run, 15 RBIs, 8 walks, .378 OBP and has scored 12 runs.
