Smith Belts Bunch of Base Hits Saturday, May 3rd , 1952 It was a parade of hits for Kelly Smith of the Sicily C Emperors at Emperors Grounds. Connecting almost every time he went to the plate, Smith finished the day with a total of 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His strong individual effort propelled the Emperors to a win, 15-8. "Smith was really good and we were really bad," groaned Celtics manager . "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him." Kelly Smith hit a solo-shot off John Morris in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Oswald Lemmel in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. |
