5-Hit Barrage by Berens Sunday, August 29th , 1954 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but New York R's Hanz Berens made it happen against the Raptors. Everything came together at the plate for the 20-year-old left fielder as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and helped the Bucks triumph, 17-6, at Bucks Park. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Berens said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Hanz Berens singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. For the year, Berens is batting .392 with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 19 runs scored. |
