Los Angeles R Befuddled by Gan in 2-0 Loss
Tuesday, July 2nd , 1957
Providence R hurler Jing-zhong Gan put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Los Angeles R Lake Monsters with a 2-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 5 hits with 8 strikeouts and 4 walks to pick up the win.
"I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Los Angeles R manager told reporters after the game.

Tuin Hittin' on All Cylinders
Tuesday, July 2nd , 1957
Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare.
Dylan Tuin of the Mobile R Skeeters pulled it off at Skeeters Grounds, going 4-for-4 against the Iceland R Crocs. His batting escapades sparked the Skeeters to a win, 8-5.
Tuin tallied 2 runs and drove in 3 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls.
"It just happened," Tuin said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it."
Dylan Tuin hit a three-run home run off Hideki Masuda in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
