Nationals Chill Mele Hot Streak Tuesday, July 12th , 1955 The Providence R Nationals pitching staff did its job, holding hot-hitting Paul Mele hitless in 1 at-bat during the club's 9-1 victory over the Mobile R Skeeters at Skeeters Grounds. The disappointing performance ended a 20-game hitting streak for the center fielder. "I'm a little down right now," Mele said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." This season, Mele has hit at a .368 clip with 11 RBIs, 2 home runs and 5 runs scored. |
