Hit Parade: Claessens Pops 5 Hits Saturday, July 23rd , 1955 It was a parade of hits for Jemke Claessens of the Paris R Thunderbirds at San Diego R Grounds. Connecting almost every time he went to the plate, Claessens finished the day with a total of 5 hits in 7 at-bats. His strong individual effort propelled the Thunderbirds to a win, 21-5. "Claessens was really good and we were really bad," groaned Saxons manager . "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him." Jemke Claessens flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Josh Walker in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This season, Claessens is batting at a .387 clip with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs. |
