Gregory 5-for-7 Against Nationals Sunday, August 7th , 1955 Even as a kid, Jon Gregory said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Crocs Park, Gregory showed how well he learned that lesson. The 20-year-old shortstop had 5 hits in 7 at-bats for the Iceland R Crocs, helping his team knock off the Providence R Nationals by a score of 10-9. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Jon Gregory singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off Lucas Arnold in the 12th. This year, Gregory has hit at a .328 clip with 43 hits, 7 home runs, 26 RBIs and 26 runs scored. |
