Sajnev Wins EBB Player of the Week Honors Monday, June 16th , 1958 Gorky fans have something to crow about today as Gorky second baseman Anatolii Sajnev nabbed the Eastern Bloc Baseball Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Sajnev. He posted a .469 average (15-for-32) this past week with 2 home runs, 3 RBIs, and 6 runs scored. This season in 41 games, Sajnev has hit at a .321 clip with 53 hits, 4 home runs, 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored. |
