5 Hits for Hillcats Martinez

Who needs batting practice? Apparently not Luna R Hillcats shortstop Alex Martinez, who missed the team's pre-game session at Hillcats Park but peppered the Los Angeles R Border Cats for 5 hits come game time. The Hillcats went on to grab the 12-3 win.
"I was late to the park and I wasn't sure coach was even going to keep me in the lineup," he told the press after the game. "Maybe I should skip BP more often."
Alex Martinez hit a solo-shot off Matt Burrus in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jun-ho Hwang in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Adrir Ampah in the 8th.
During the current season Martinez is batting at a .293 clip with 6 home runs and 19 RBIs. He has played in 18 games and scored 15 times.

Martinez Homers 3 Times Against Los Angeles R

Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Hillcats-Border Cats game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Luna R shortstop Alex Martinez thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Luna R to a win, 12-3, over Los Angeles R.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Martinez said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Martinez, who is tied for 5th in the in home runs with 6, was 5-for-6 on the day with 6 runs batted in.

Chavez Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits

Tony Chavez did a number on the Sun Sox in the 17-10 4 victory -- and the number was 5. The Tigercats center fielder banged out 5 hits in 6 at-bats at Team Stadium to lead his club past the 3 Sun Sox.
"I felt good in the batter's box," he said. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done."
Tony Chavez flied out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year, Chavez is hitting .362, produced 16 RBIs and 3 home runs, scored 16 times and gotten on base at a .422 rate.
