Jolkevsky Silences Sofia, 7-0

Andrusha Jolkevsky of the Budapest Brewers was on top of his game.

The 22-year-old tantalized the Sofia Frogs with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 7-0.

"He had the changeup working," Sofia manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Budapest hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.

Jolkevsky told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

So far in 7 appearances this season, Jolkevsky has recorded 4 wins and sustained 2 losses. He has pitched 57.1 innings, yielded 42 hits, fanned 27 and has a 1.73 ERA.
