Torkkeli Runs Hit String to 20 Straight Games Tuesday, June 16th , 1953 Aatu Torkkeli's bat has been smoking lately, and it continued today as he went 1-for-4 in his team's 7-6 triumph over the Budapest Brewers at Jayhawks Ballpark. The 25-year-old left fielder has now hit safely in 20 consecutive games for the Owls. Aatu Torkkeli walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. In 42 games this year, Torkkeli has posted a .283 average and put up these numbers: 5 home runs, 22 RBIs and 25 runs scored. |
