Barannikov Shackles Kyiv
Monday, July 18th , 1955
It was not a good day at the plate for the Kyiv Mules. They came up empty when it mattered against Moscow Mammoths right-hander Gav Barannikov, who scattered 5 hits across 9 innings and held the Mules scoreless.
"We had 5 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Kyiv manager said later.
Barannikov chalked up 5 strikeouts and 3 walks in the 10-0 Mammoths win.
On his stats sheet for the year Barannikov shows a 9-6 record, 19 starts, 137.2 innings, 95 strikeouts and a 3.60 ERA.
