New Single Season Wins Leader Saturday, July 23rd , 1955 Today at Wolfhounds Grounds Pavlov Habichev of the Volgograd Owls posted his 14th victory of the year and broke the league single-season mark set previously by Anatoly Chailahyan. Commenting to the press after the game Habichev gave the secret to his success, "You don't have to make a big study of the batters before the game. I just throw low and away or high and tight, and remember to throw the curveball below the belt. Just keep your life and pitching simple and you'll get along quite well." This season, Habichev has worked 170 innings with 61 strikeouts en route to a 14-4 record and a 2.22 ERA. |
