Afanasievsky Wins EBB Rookie Award Saturday, August 1st , 1953 Laurentij Afanasievsky's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Kharkiv catcher has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .235 with 3 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Afanasievsky also scored 5 times and drove in 8 runs. Batting .272 to date, Afanasievsky has 6 home runs and 17 RBIs. |
