Sofia Frogs Sold to Billy Kemp Saturday, August 8th , 1953 "All my life I've dreamed of having my own baseball team, and now that dream has come true." Those were the words of the brand-new owner of the Sofia Frogs, Billy Kemp, who today was introduced at a media gathering at Ragin Cajuns Park. Kemp is a wealthy real estate mogul who recently purchased the team from Gabe Hodge. He promised Sofia Frogs fans that he would put forth a first-class product on the field. Candidly assessing his own personal temperament and management style, Kemp told reporters, "I'm normal with my money and I'm quite unmerciful in working with people. I expect success -- that's the bottom line with me." Sofia finished first this past season in the Western Division with a team record of 52-29. |
