Beteev on Fire: 6-for-6 for Kharkiv Thursday, May 20th , 1954 Even as a kid, Filip Beteev said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Buckeyes Park, Beteev showed how well he learned that lesson. The 24-year-old first baseman had 6 hits in 6 at-bats for the Kharkiv Ducks, helping his team knock off the Kazan Komets by a score of 14-8. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Filip Beteev singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
