Kharkiv Hopeless Against Aigi
Wednesday, June 30th , 1954
The Kharkiv Ducks were almost helpless in their 7-0 loss to the Budapest Brewers and hurler Erik Aigi. Aigi kept the Ducks confused all game, spinning a 8-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Aigi," Kharkiv manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 24-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Aigi said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This season, Aigi shows a 7-7 record in 16 games, 141.1 innings, 60 strikeouts, and a 2.10 ERA.
