3-HR Day for Troy
Saturday, May 7th , 1955
Lou Troy went yard three times in a Aurich Steelmen victory over the Emden Engineers at Team Grounds.
"I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit."
For the day, the Aurich catcher went 4-for-5 against Emden with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Steelmen to the 11-5 win.
"I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out."
Lou Troy grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Eddie Bustamante in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Dallas Hockert in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Felipe Medina in the 8th.
