Kim Hits for the Cycle
Tuesday, May 18th , 1999
In-kwon Kim accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball when he hit for the cycle against the Mars AAA Cyclones in the 14-2 Tokyo AAA Rascals win at Los Angeles AAA Grounds.
Afterward, Kim acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Rascals win.
"Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Kim said.
On his historic day, he went 5-for-5 with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books.
In-kwon Kim walked in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Alarbi Haki in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and tripled in the 9th.
This year, Kim has hit at a .348 clip with 8 RBIs, 3 home runs and 9 runs scored.
