Arto Kusuma Named SL2's Best Player
Wednesday, September 8th , 1999
At the age of 21, Arto Kusuma of the 2 Heat could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 1999 was good enough to win the center fielder the Sub League 2 Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .295 batting average this year, as well as a .374 on-base percentage. He played 79 games and racked up 87 hits, 20 doubles, 3 triples, 21 home runs, 63 RBIs and 57 runs scored.
He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 20. Bill Hanson of the 10 Gunners finished second in voting, while C.J. TRUE of the 9 Destroyers finished third with 2 first place votes.
