Lanning Shuts Out Lisbon A, 7-0
Friday, May 16th , 1952
The Lisbon A Spirit were almost helpless in their 7-0 loss to the Los Angeles A Warlords and hurler Brandon Lanning. Lanning kept the Spirit confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Lanning," Lisbon A manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 22-year-old right-hander had no walks and 8 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Lanning said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
