Hits Blitz for Warlords Leslie
Sunday, July 13th , 1958
Andrew Leslie accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball when he hit for the cycle against the Berlin A Polars Bears in the 15-6 Los Angeles A Warlords win at Warlords Park.
Afterward, Leslie acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Warlords win.
"Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Leslie said.
On his historic day, he went 4-for-4 with 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books.
Andrew Leslie doubled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off Gideon Ulrych in the 7th.
For the season, Leslie has produced 75 hits in 252 at-bats for a .298 average with 7 home runs and gotten on base at a .360 clip.
