Green Sends New York A Bats to Deep Freeze Saturday, May 30th , 1953 Jay Green kept the New York A Big Stick hitters from doing much damage at San Jose AAA Stadium. New York A could only muster 8 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Green, who controlled them throughout the game. Lisbon A won the contest, 4-0. Green added 7 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Green told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." Thus far this season, Green has worked 39.2 innings with 25 strikeouts en route to a 2-3 record and a 5.67 ERA. |
