Lisbon A-Mobile A Brawl, Saarikoski and Amspacher Suspended Wednesday, June 10th , 1953 After an intense confrontation, both the Spirit Santeri Saarikoski and the Rivermen Brian Amspacher were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Lisbon A-Mobile A game. Santeri Saarikoski will miss 4 games, while Brian Amspacher was suspended for 6 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Santeri Saarikoski commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." Saarikoski is hitting .317 this year with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has 20 hits in 63 at-bats, 12 walks and a .429 on-base percentage. Saarikoski has played in 21 games. On the season, Amspacher has a 0-4 record with a 3.70 ERA. |
