Valiants Blank Sicily A, Berger Winner Thursday, July 7th , 1955 Glenn Berger kept the Sicily A Longhorns hitters from doing much damage at Valiants Stadium. Sicily A could only muster 4 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Berger, who controlled them throughout the game. Iceland A won the contest, 8-0. Berger added 8 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Berger told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." For the year, Berger has a 7-6 record with a 4.08 ERA in 15 starts. |
