New York A Stymied by Mickan
Monday, July 25th , 1955
Josh Mickan bent a little, but he didn't break against the New York A Big Stick. The Mobile A Rivermen pitcher hurled a 4-hit, 4-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 3 walks and tallying 7 strikeouts.
"Josh is good at getting out of jams," Rivermen manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
To date this season, Mickan is 7-1 with 8 starts and an ERA of 2.90 with 71 strikeouts in 80.2 innings.
