Lisbon A Blanked by Fennell
Wednesday, July 27th , 1955
The Lisbon A Spirit were almost helpless in their 6-0 loss to the Providence A Pilgrims and hurler Anthony Fennell. Fennell kept the Spirit confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Fennell," Lisbon A manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 26-year-old right-hander had 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Fennell said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This year, Fennell has compiled a 10-7 record with a 4.43 ERA.
