Hua Spins 5-0 Shutout Against Budapest
Friday, May 9th , 1952
Tu-fu Hua of the Prague Bruins was on top of his game.
The 24-year-old tantalized the Budapest Brewers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0.
"He had the changeup working," Budapest manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Prague hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.
Hua told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
