Comets Torpedoed by Gonzalez in 5-0 Loss to Manhattan Charter School Saturday, March 28th , 1953 Fernando Gonzalez had an impressive outing at Comets Stadium, hurling the Manhattan Charter School Skyliners to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Secondary Comets. "He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," Detroit Secondary skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders." On the day, the left-handed Gonzalez yielded 5 hits and tallied 12 strikeouts with no walks.
