Hernandez Runs Hit String to 38 Straight Games Sunday, March 29th , 1953 The hot bat of Flyers shortstop Jose Hernandez continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 38 games after he went 2-for-4 in today's 8-6 loss to the Timber Rattlers at Flyers Park. "I'm trying not to think about it much," he said later. "I don't want to mess with whatever zone I'm in." Jose Hernandez walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
