Robinson Belts 3 HRs
Sunday, March 29th , 1953
St. Martin's Prep Marksmen second baseman Joe Robinson had a magnificent game against the Harlem High School Wild Dogs, rocketing three balls out of Marksmen Field to help the Marksmen win, 10-9.
"I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes."
For the game, Robinson went 4-for-5 with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," St. Martin's Prep manager said later. "Seems like Joe found his home run stroke today."
Joe Robinson hit a three-run home run off Jayden Winfree in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jayden Winfree in the 4th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Tadashige Takahashi in the 9th.
During the current season Robinson is batting at a .276 clip with 4 home runs and 19 RBIs. He has played in 24 games and scored 19 times.
